installing slack on Nokia 5510 hard disk?

Hello Everybody,

I've got a Nokia 5510 mobile phone, wich has a 64 Mb hard disk with USB connector. When booting the SuSE install CD, it recognizes the Nokia and the hard disk, but the minimal installation of SuSE is WAY too big... However, Slackware installation doesn't recognize the USB device. Is there a way to boot SuSE and install Slackware from there? I like the idea of a linux rescue system on my phone :) (and I've always got it with me, so it's handy too :p) by the way, is there a way to use the driver from SuSE for slackware so I can just boot Slack and load the driver from the SuSE cd?

Greetz,

you may need to add a kernel boot parameter in Slackware to get it to recognize this device.

Maybe not, maybe slackware doesnt surpport these at all.

Are you trying to use this as a boot device (after you have Linux installed on it, of course)?

If so, you need to put SYSLINUX on it to boot the system. You also can't just install Linux on it like it is a normal HDD. You would need to make an initrd image and boot that into a RAMDISK with SYSLINUX. You can't use flash memory as a mount point, since the read-write action is going to burn it out pretty quick.

Plus, with compression, you can get an entire Linux system on there with the kernel and the boot loader, and only take up a fraction on the space on it.
