Installing Samba on Mandrake

Hi All

Not sure if this is the correct forum but perhaps you guys can help. I have a 120gig hard drive that I have partitioned into 2 X 60 gig partitions. I have installed Mandrake 9.2 download edition on one partition and Windows XP prof on the other, dual bootable (Lilo)

My question is this, if I install samba on the linux partition will I then be able to see and use the files on the linux partition while booted into windows?

Thanking you in anticipation,

WESS126

samba is for sharing files and printers via a network. It is easier to access a windows partition on linux then the other way.

It depends on what filesystem your Mandrake has for the specfic windows application. IMO these are read only. A FAT32 partition is the safest for sharing files between the two OS's.
