cd to the directory where you have the unpacked files.
run ./install.sh

Then you should be able to start opera from the command line.

I downloaded the static file for opera 7.11, ran the
installation and I can fire up opera from the kde menu.
The problem I am having is that whenever I open the
washpost.com page, the front page photo is shifted all
the way to the left of the screen and all that can be
seen is horizontal lines. I have played with all the
set ups to see if it is somethinh I need to adjust but
it has not helped. All I can think now is that since I
am using the static file and do not have java running,
maybe that is my problem. Anybody else has seen this?

Any other web page I have visited appears to be ok,
except the washpost.com page. What is going on?

I tried the shared version but did not work for me.
