installing nvidia drivers for Mepis 3.3

I downloaded Mepis 3.3 and i love it. The only thing is that it wont install the nvidia drivers. I did exactly what they told me to and it says something about my kernel heading and that i have to have the kernel source installed. How do i do this?? I have kernel 2.6.7 by the way.

You need to install the kernel headers and kernel source corresponding to the version of the kernel you are running. You can do this by using Synaptic and searching for linux-headers and linux-source (could also be kernel-headers or kernel-source).

I tried to install Synaptic, but it said i have to have the package "xmlto" installed, so i went to get that, but it is not supported on Debian. Is there any way to install Synaptic without that package or just use something besides Synaptic?
