installing mysql


hey guys, i want to install mysql on my linux box, how do i go about it? i'm using mandrake linux vmware and i don't know how to go about it.

Surely Mandrake (or do you mean Mandriva?) has an RPM available? I suggest a google for "RPM mysql Mandrake" or whatever.

If you've no idea what an RPM is you should really read some documentation on your systems package management facilities.

It would also be nice to see what attempts you tried in installing MySQL. Where did it fail? What's the error message? If you have never installed a package before, there are tons of documentation out there on the web that will guide you.
