hi guys,
I have linux 7.3 running in my system. I want to install mysql 4.0.13. i have just download this file "mysql-standard-4.0.13-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz" and unzip it. which leads me to a directory "mysql-standard-4.0.13-pc-linux-i686" which consist of following files and subfolders.

bin/
ChangeLog
configure*
COPYING
COPYING.LIB
data/
include/
INSTALL-BINARY
lib/
man/
manual.html
manual_toc.html
manual.txt
mysql-test/
README
scripts/
share/
sql-bench/
support-files/
tests/

I have searched on the net how to install mysql 4.0.13 but i could not find anything.. can any body tell me which is the file for installation and how to install... in previous versions using rpm file was very simple.. but in this i donno how to do...

If you're intent on using the tarball you downloaded, then I would read the README file, then the INSTALL-BINARIES file for instructions. I've never tried to install mysql by hand before though. Be warned that if you do install it by hand, your package manager will not know you have installed it, and will not let you install any packages that requires mysql.
