this first thing you will need to do is unpack it, use this command

$tar -xvjf MPlayer-0.92.tar.bz2
$cd MPlayer-0.92
$cat README

the cat command will let you read the README file. It will tell you exactly how to install mplayer. Good luck

If you don'y have bzip, use google to search for it and install bzip. Use bzip to uncompress the file before untaring it.

I get this error?

[miked@localhost miked]$ tar -xvjf MPlayer-0.92.tar
bzip2: (stdin) is not a bzip2 file.
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
[miked@localhost miked]$ tar -xvjf MPlayer-0.92.tar
[miked@localhost miked]$

that's because you've already un-bziped it. either:
# tar xjvpf Mplayer*.tar.bz2
or:
# tar xvf Mplayer*.tar
