Installing maya

I have a file called Maya 5.0 Unlimited.bin but it does not seem to be working, I change it to executable and try "./Maya 5.0 Unlimited.bin " but it comes back with:

bash: ./Maya 5.0 Unlimited.bin: cannot execute binary file

Is there something I'm doing wrong or is the file corrupted or something? Thanks for any input.

Can you check it w/ an Md5sum or something? It sounds like its curropt or incomplete.

So Maya comes in one big binary? Ouch.

Have you tried running it as root?

JunLitsu 07-01-2003 09:01 PM

There is no md5 checksum and I've tried running it as root. I wasn't able to get it on a cd so I had to use alternate methods *cough*

A|W choose RH as preferred Linux/GNU distribution, and AFAIK all the separate component installers (FlexLM, Motif, Maya, Shaderlibs) are distributed as rpm files. If they where distributed as tarballs they still would be recognizable using the default product-version.ext naming scheme. So, by telling us your file is called "Maya 5.0 Unlimited.bin", it's easy to determine the validity of the package cuz it:
I. does not adhere to the official naming scheme,
II. has spaces in the name (dead giveaway for Wintendo P2P), and
III. seems to be the "Unlimited" version which weighs in at aprox 20K USD (and yeah, you *do* get *and* the manuals *and* support with the CDs then).

As moderator I'm sure you're using warez, and LQ doesn't like to support people messing with warez in any way. Please take these kind of questions to a forum where ppl don't care for ripping firms of their money.
