Installing LILO (package)
WHen I installed Linux recently, I didn't choose to install any
boot loader. Instead just created a boot floppy. Well, the idea was to install another distro, and make use of it's boot loader. However, for some reason I chose not to install another distro. And therefore, I installed LILO package. The install seemed to go through right ( I used rpm ). But the installation did not create any /etc/lilo.conf file. NOt sure why. I created it, populated it. And then installed LILO using "lilo -r /". However, when I boot using the LILO in MBR, it panics and says 'no init found'. But I use boot floppy, it boots just fine. Does anyone here know how to Install LILO boot loader from rpm? |
Got it working.
A typo in /etc/lilo.conf caused quite a bit of confusion |
Always use the "-v" option when running /sbin/lilo. Especially when trying to install. It will show you any errors.
