Installing libjpeg-turbo,make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

I'm trying to install libjpeg-turbo so I can install VirtualGL so I can install Bumblebee so I can install foo so I can install bar (this never ends). Anyway, I downloaded it, I did ./configure, and when I do make, it gives me the error make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop. I read the installation instructions and it said I should just be able to do ./configure, make, make test, make install if I'm on a Unix machine. Debian is a Unix machine, right? (or close enough?) Help a noob in need!

Welcome to LQ.

First : Why not try out a debian package ?
libjpeg-turbo_1.2.0_amd64.deb or libjpeg-turbo_1.2.0_i386.deb
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libj...o/files/1.2.0/

And : When ./configure finishes with an error :
configure: error: no <???>
Like : configure: error: no nasm ...
..... Then no Makefike is created.

( This will do : # apt-get install nasm ).

.
