Installing KDE
I want to install kde after installing gnome. I'm just posting this to find out if there is an automated way of doing this without having to download tons of files. I was hoping there was a way of using the redhat 7.2 installation cds to install kde quickly and easily.

You should be able to put in the cd with all of the kde rpms and install them doing an rpm -i packagename.rpm for all of the applicable KDE packages.

Order of files to install
There is a specific order to installing KDE files.
The first files to install are the QT libraries That would include all the libmng* files and qt* files Then install htdig* files Then install the KDE binaries.... Failing that, check dependencies.... gnorpm (the package manager in GNOME is easy to use that way. When it asks for depenndencies, look them up and then load them first, then the next files thereafter. Installing KDE when not part of the initial install can sometimes be touch-and-go. |
