Installing Java in Mozilla 1.4


I'm trying to install java with Mozilla 1.4 when I go to a web page with a java applet I get the "Plug in required do you want to download" I pick yes It downloads and says installation sucessfull but doesn't work. Can anyone help?

I tried for days to get jave to work. This is the only method that worked for me.

open browser
at the top
see "Help"?
klick it
see "about plugins"?
kilck it
see java?
if yes, it is installed
if no, then at top of that page:

Find more information about browser plug-ins at Netscape.com.
Help for installing plug-ins is available from plugindoc.mozdev.org.

klick plugindoc.mozdev.org.

all the netscape plugins are there with intructions

maybe check out the instructions anyways

oh yea just remembered
had the same trouble when going to moz 1.2 from1.1

cd into the /usr/local/mozilla
symbolic link as above
