Installing J2RE, LimeWireLinux and MPlayer

Hi, all, I need to install LimeWire on my FC3, I downloaded a .bin file of it but I am unable to execute it not form the Desktop nor from the console/terminal. I get a warning that the file is of tyoe unknown and not safe. i get the same error for all other bin files like RealPlayer10GOLD.bin and also the Java Runtime Environment etc. How do I deal with this? Lastly, someone suggested that installing MPlayer is the easiest when done from source. Can anyone give me a step by step how to so that I install MPlayer from its source?

Do your .bin files have execute permissions?
Try doing "chmod 545 (name of file).bin" , you may need to do it as root

You can download the LimeWire rpm and install that, just make sure you have java installed and in your path. As for mplayer you can instll if from the dag or freshrpms apt or yum rpm repositories.

What is the command you use to execute it?

Did you try:

sh jre*

In a terminal window?

If so, what error message did you get?
