installing grip, not able to use cdparanoia

I cannot give the exact error message, as my linux box does not have internet access. In any case, while running ./configure in the grip src directory, i get this error "cdparanoia.h found, but can't be used" or something to that effect. i can use cdparanoia just fine on it's own. Continuing the installation though, results in my being able to run Grip fine, but without being able to actually rip cd's. All I get is the appropriate directories, and mp3 files 0 kb large.

I am running Slackware 10. I have the latest stable version of Grip and cdparanoia.
