installing gcc 3.3.6 on Ubuntu 6.10

I should uninstall the GCC which is default installed in Ubuntu 6.10 and install gcc 3.3.6.
It is possible?
From where I should start?

Yes, but I would make it so that gcc 3 would have an extention of 3.3, so it looks like gcc-3.3. First step would be download the source for GCC 3, then compile.
