I have been trying all weekend to install gallery2 to my system for family picture sharing, etc.... I used apt-get/aptitude to get the latest stable apache 2.2.10 and MySQL 5.5 on my server. I used the default options for all aspects. I tried to install Gallery2 as defined on site http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:I...tion_on_Debian. The only noted issue was that the reqest to restart apache seems to fail. I restart it manually, but "www.example.com/gallery2" (I have used my system name, localhost and IP address) does not seem to exist. Install files seem to indicate all the files are on the computer, but the configuration which creates the "/gallery2" part of the site does not seem to be working.

Any help is appreciated.

Tenacity has its value. It appears that the debian installation instructions on the gallery2 site fails to create the connection to apache2 when using only default configurations (not sure that defaults matter). I copied /usr/share/gallery2 to /var/www/apache-default and it seems to be working fine.
