Installing g77, Latex and MBlaze in CentOS 6 Urgent
Hi,
I am a new user. I downloaded and installed centos 6 on my laptop (dell vostro 1014). On the terminal f77,gfort or other commands are not working. tex did not work either. Also I have a MTS-MBlaze USB modem, I could not install that either. Please help. Please remember I cannot at present connect the laptop to internet so any package I would have to download somewhere else. |

Hi -

The default package manager for Centos is "Yum". Here are some links: http://www.linuxagora.com/vbforum/ar...php/t-215.html http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/yum/ Quote:
Drag - this is a problem :( Your main focus is absolutely to get Internet connectivity. I assume you have Internet access independent of your laptop (that's probably how you posted to LQ ;)). Please check out the following links, look at your logs, and post back with more details about exactly WHY your Modem isn't working. Try to be as explicit as possible about the error messages (we understand you probably can't cut/paste): http://jeevanism.wordpress.com/2011/...odem-in-linux/ http://rajesh-shakya.blogspot.com/20...ration-on.html http://abhishekdelta.wordpress.com/2...dem-in-ubuntu/ Failing all else, please consider buying or borrowing some other means of Internet access - if only temporarily, to load the basic drivers and software you might need to get your regular modem working. Good luck! |
@Paulsm4 : The main difficulti is when I open network manager and try to add a mobile broadband (thats what it is maybe I wrongly stated usb modem..its a usb data stick) it does not detect the device. In ubuntu for India the operator settings are given for mblaze but not here. There is an rpm package provided with this data stick. When I run it, installation is done. Then under internet tab..the dialup icon appears for mblaze (just like in windows) but the icon just does not respond to mous click !
---------- Post added 09-08-11 at 12:23 PM ---------- @PaulSM I know about yum..the problem is I cannot connect my laptop to internet so can not fetch anything through yum. |
Please don't!
