Installing flash in mozilla

I'm trying to install the flash plug-in for mozilla. The installer runs fine, but when I load up mozilla, the flash plug-in isn't there. I check in the /home/user/.mozilla/plug-ins and the plug-in is there. Is there something I have to do from within mozilla to load the plug-in, or am I installing it to the wrong directory?

Copy flashplayer.xpt and libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

Have a look at www.mozdev.org ,Plugin Doc.This should tell you what you want to know.Just follow the doc. in creating the symlink and then it should work.

I have the plugin installed in both the /home/user/.mozilla/plugins and /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins directory, but mozilla still isnt detecting the plugin. Also, I wasnt able to find anything to do with symlinks in that plugindocs page on mozdev.org. Any ideas?

Thanks for the replies.

what version of mozilla are you running? go to Help > About. most likely that the mozilla path isn't /usr/lib/mozilla but /usr/lib/mozilla-X.X.X where X.X.X is the version number. delete the plugin files in your ~/.mozilla/plugins directory.

Okay, so I moved the plugin files to the /mozilla-1.4/plugins directory, but Mozilla still isnt recognizing the plugin. This is the same directory as the plugin that comes with mozilla libnullplugin.so, that is found. I also deleted the plugin files out of my ~/.mozilla directory, and the other /mozilla/plugins directory. Any ideas of what I can do?

Have a look in: Settings > Configure Konqueror > Plugins and try scanning for new plugins. You should find /usr/lib/mozilla-1.4/plugins there.
