installing a usb modem

i have not used linux until today and i am having trouble installing my modem on it. i have seen other thread that has helped me up until this point on http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...x-lite-694883/. but now i have the inital setup page up and the bar has not moved for about 10 mins. can anyone help me in my hour of need lol

What setup page? Have you gone through the whole process and is your modem installed? Are you using an Aspire One? More info required to give better answer(s).
