installing a new desktop enviroment in fedora core 4


i installed the fedora core 4, XFCE desktop enviroment has been removed form fedora core 4,
so i went to www.xfce.org got the graphical installer for xfce 4.2.2 and installed it. installation was a success. gnome being the default desktop i typed #switchdesk xfce, but it says xfce is not istalled. what can be the problem???

PLS HELP

Restart the xserver and try again.
