installer shield - text problem

hey,

I'm trying to install a game with wine. I have already sorted out the wine problem of the stdole file.

The problem is that when I try and install World Cup 2002, I get some errors with reagrding the installer shield. It then hangs and I have to kill it.

The error ends like this and I think that this is the problem:

fixme:win:SetWindowTextA cannot set text "InstallShield Wizard" of other process window (nil)
fixmele:_copy_arg argument was coerced in-place (0x3 -> 0xb); source data has
been modified!!!
fixmele:_copy_arg argument was coerced in-place (0x3 -> 0xb); source data has
been modified!!!
fixme:win:SetWindowTextA cannot set text "2002 FIFA World Cup TM Setup" of other process window (nil)
fixme:dialog:MSGBOX_OnInit task modal msgbox ! Not modal yet.

I have no idea what this is abuot or how to sort it.

Could someone please give me a hand.

Hamish

slightly more success with the dcom98 file. However, it now says that a newer version has been installed. It says I must uninstall that version.

Where could I find it?

The config verson is Win98

hmm.... are you using an existing windows partition to run wine? i'm not sure, but i would've thought that if you were using a fake c windows folder you shouldn't have dcom98 installed there at all. i'm not sure if installing programs using wine on a windows partition would be good either. but i'm guessing here. have you entertained the thought that maybe the game you're trying to install isn't supported in wine? i didn't see it listed at frankscorner.org.

mmhm,

I will go and try a different game now. I'm running wine on my Linux partition. I don't have a windoze one

Thanks a lot for your help, megaspaz. It has been good trying to sort this out.

If you ever have an idea, just write it here and I will be able to see it.

thanks
Hamish
