Installed beryl, but get an error message; ' glx_ext_texture_from_pixmap' is missing

I'm using kde in Debian Sid. Ive installed beryl but get this error message ONLY when I just type 'beryl' at the command line. The error is;

"'glx_ext_texture_from_pixmap' is missing."

and nothing happens.

NOW, When I type 'beryl-manager' I get the beryl splash screen, that then fades to white, and if I scroll, I can see the cube moving, but still everything is white, without the taskbar or anything. (it takes up the whole screen).

So anyway, what can I do about this? Searched a bit but I guess this isn't common enough to be posted.

looks to me like its bleeding edge, and perhaps not supported.

(that's just from a google search for 'glx_ext_texture_from_pixmap', it may have nothing to do with your problem.

i have had the same problem on edgy eft with xgl and and ati card. it worked fine then it updated and then i got that error. the solution was simply to open
beryl-manager go into beryl settings manager. go to the image format and disable jpeg support. this was added when it updated. i don't know why this doesn't work but whatever. after this I opened beryl-xgl and it magically worked again.

Try installing "gtk2-engines-pixbuf"

I had the same "problem". Try installing the "gtk2-engines-pixbuf" library or something similar.
