installation problem

hi.

i have a computer that i have installed suse 8 and red hat 7.3 quite a few times.

now when i install suse 8, it stops on the second disk at xgrabber screensaver for x i believe. anyhow , it stops part way though the second disk at 100% of installing xgrabber and freezes

i cannot install red hat 7.3, stops on the second disk at about the same point also

frustrated , i got my mandrake 8.2, and bingo, it installed without a problem

why can,t i install suse and red hat. i am lost for reasons unless the disks are corrupted

If it's the same machine and you use the same cds, it looks it's a problem with the cds. Try to test them with another machine...

i just had the same problem on my computer while installing redhat 7.3
it was odd:
I got an error message at the xscreensaver that said "some/file/here is missing click ok to try again". I clicked OK and it came up again, I clicked OK again and it stopped. it has completely stopped.

I have isntalled redhat from this CD before without xscreensaver package, so maybe you should try leaving out xscreensaver, just like I'm about to try.... and send a bug report to redhat.

It looks there's a cd surface problem in the place xscreensaver is and one cd may be reading it better than another one... If you can, try to switch them.
