installation of video players in RedHat 9.0


hi,
my machine has redhat 9.0 installation in it.i tried to install mplayer .91 ,but i got the error message that mplayer common .90 was needed for it.
i also tried to install gxine.i first installed the lib for the player and then the frontend.
but still no luck.
could you guide through a proper installation procedure for a movie player.
please help

tuxfood .......go to http://www.freshrpms.net and go to the directory for
redhat 9...... search for a package on the left hand side of the page called apt .....download and install it......
afterwards.....(as root still)
type: apt-get update
then after it updates type: apt-get install mplayer
and your should be on your way.
