install tar.gz from CD

Hi

I'm setting up a mandriva LE PC for my mother and want to install firefox and thunderbird from a CD. They are tar.gz files. I thought I had a printed copy of a tutorial or HOWTO from this site, but have a lot of gear packed ready for moving house, and can't find it.

So far I have copied the files to /home on HD from the CD. I recall things like 'make' and 'config' I think. Have tried googling, no luck so far.

Thanks

Go to the directory where the tarball is and unpack Thunderbird. I *think* Thunderbird is precompiled, if not run: ./configure, make su make install. If it is precompiled, find the binary and just run it.

Thanks ... in the end I downloaded the RPMs as they turned out to be not such big files, and I couldn't get them installed from the CD.
