Install Redhat9 problem:NO hard driver have been found

Hello,
when I try to install Redhat 9 use the first cd:the problem come:
No hard drives have been found You probably need to manually chose device drivers for the installation to succeed. Would you like to select drivers now?
I have installed windows xp in my hard disk (sda),and have format D: want to install linux on D: Can you help me?Thanks very much.

RedHat 9 is very old and no longer supported by RedHat. So no security updates and modern hardware might not work. Searching the internet reveals that RH9 uses the 2.4.x kernel that does not seem to support SATA. Your post does not make clear if D: is also SATA.

Get yourself something more modern (check distrowatch) if you don't have a extremely good reason to use RH9.

Not familiar with Fedora. Sounds like your either installing on a harddisk that is fully in use by a previous operating system or a faulty HD. Did you (re)partition the HD?

that can be a common error with fedora , and fedora 10 in particular

have you tried fedora 11 ?
or CentOS 5.3 ?
