install problems

Linux stops during install syaing cant find image on floppy. When linux 5.2 was on the cdrom was fine but now im trying to install rh7.1 from cd's that work flawlessly on other machines. If I press ctrl-alt-f3 during boot i see an error message saying cant mount hdc. is there anything i can do to fix this?

And your CD-ROM is definately the secondary master (master device on your second IDE channel) right??

cheers

yes definately because I have 2 Hard drives a 40 gig seagate pri master, and a 6gig seagate pri slave. the cdrom ia a 36x udma(33). The errors that I get after the sisyem hangs when i press ctrl-alt-f3 is

*trying to mount device hdc
*failed to mount loop

ctrl-alt-f4

hdc command error: stat=0x51 DriveReady SeekComplete Error
hdc command error: error=0x54
end request I/O error dev 16:00 (hdc), sector ..........

This drive reads the linux cd very well in win, rh5.2, dos and linux before it tries to mount it. it seemes like a driver error or bug.

hello emanners,

try to use the command:

linux hdc=cdrom

make sure that your cdrom is in the hdc.
