How come whenever I right click on a package and choose "Install in YaST" it asks me for the root password and YaST pops up but the package window is blank? What am I supposed to do after that? Sorry I'm a guys! I'm running Suse 9.1.
THANKS!
Once you enter your root password, the installation of your package should begin automatically. If not, there is some kind of problem and you need to look at your log files. People here will tell you which ones. Long live SuSE!

Good luck!
Hmmm... I'm assuming you don't mean a problem with the package, but just to let you know, I've tried it with several differentn packages. Thanks for the advise... I'll look around for the log files.
OK, I found the log file and it seems that I keep getting denied permission to create the folders needed to install the programs. I'm not logged in as root, but I did enter the root password after I click on "install in YaST". If I log in as root, it only lets me go to YaST (nothing else) and I don't know how to install the software directly from there (only by right-clicking on the package and choosing "install in YaST"). What do I have to do to give myself permisson? Thanks a lot guys!
Billy
Well, I was reading THIS thread trying to figure this out. Do you have to do all this stuff from a command line? It seems like I could do it through the GUI if I could do it with my normal user login, but Maybe if I have to do it through the root login, then I have to learn the commands?
Thanks again!
Billy
Could it be that you are looking at the wrong filter?
Whenever I install software the way you described, I also get an empty window because the filter is set to 'search'. If you change the filter to what says something like 'summary of installation' (I only have a german version here), you should see the package.
But anyway it should get installed after clicking the 'confirm' button.

I'm almost positive I tried that, but will try again. I don't think that will solve the problem though because when I look at the log file, it says I was denied permission to create a number of folders during the install.

The (cropped) log file is like 50,000 characters and I don't have hosting at the moment I can email it to anyone that would be willing to help though.
Thanks,
Billy
