install Dolphin file manager add-ons offline

My company fire wall will not let me use the "Download New Sevices" in Dolphin. How do I download an add-on from home and install on my work machine. Specifically I want to run root from Dolphin

pick up the phone
call IT
have them install it

not a good idea and YOUR IT Department will chew you a new one for doing so

only VERY RARELY would you even possibly want to run the gui as root
and there is NEVER a "100% MUST do" need to run a gui as root

and only very few times where it might be a slight time saver over the terminal

it is a HUGE security risk and NOT RECOMMENDED

open a terminal and use "su " or " su -"
or
if your IT Dept. has configured "sudo" for your user , use that.

I understand your security concern, but having IT install it is not possible

you are using kbuntu

so your ROOT password IS your normal user password ( never liked that idea )
and sudo was set up at the time of install

just use sudo to become root

as to off line installing

put the deb archive for this " add on" on a usb and copy it over

but check with your IT policy about self installing programs

- for most it is NOT a good idea to do that
it might even get you let go , so check .

Newbie question: Where do I copy it to? How do I tell Dolphin to install it?
