install conexant driver kernel 2.2.19-19mdk source
i need to instal a conexant linmodem driver
when i try to install it, the program tells me i have to reconfigure my kernel, because the driver does not work with co-processor function on. i tried to find the kernel source, but cannot find it..... how do i reconfigure the kernel? i am using mandrake 8.1 (2.2.19-19mdk secure) thank you |
Well have you chosen to install the kernel source when you first installed Mandrake?
the source will be in: usr/src/linux if you can't find it there, then you will need to install it. You should find it in the Mandrake CD. Also if you want the latest kernel, then goto www.kernel.org, and download the latest one from there. should 2.4.19 I think. Also to learn how to compile your kerenel, just search through the forum, because I saw a lot of posts about comiling kernels. p.s. don't download the 2.5.* these are non-stable ones. |
thow do i identify the kernel source in my cd???
thank you |
I think it will be something like kernel-source

can i change the config-file
i want to configure the kernel:unset the co-procesor option
in order to install a driver can i do this directly in the config file???? thank you |
