inkscape fails to launch

I am using tmxxine linux which is a fancy version of puppy linux. I boot from a CD and store my data on a usb flash drive. The system works great except for 2 problems. Both inkscape and audacity do not run on the system. No errors are displayed although the usb stick lights up briefly. The version of inkscape lite runs without a hitch. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the pet inscape file. And have tried installing a tar.gz version with out any luck.

Any suggestions?

Monty

Do you see any errors when you run the program from the terminal? If not, run it and then check dmesg to see if there are any errors logged there.

no information from dmesg file

Matt,

thanks for quick response. I have now booted up in linux and tried your suggestions. The terminal window which i think is called (rxvt) has no response. The the dmesg file has no additional information.

I don't know how puppy is working... did you install the program through some puppy-base package manager? If so then it's probably a packaging issue with puppy, and you should raise a bug report with the puppy linux people.

Yeah, looks like a packaging error (or rather a build problem when building the package). In any case, you should raise it with the origin of the package.
