Info files in the help system, e.g., grub
Is there a way to make help files for GNU programs such as grub and emacs available within the help system of KDE? These files are in "info" form. I can get the help via the command line, but it ought to be possible to do better than that.

I don't know if the Kde help works the same in all distros, so I'll tell you how I did it in SuSE 9.3.
Click on Control Center - Help. When the help screen comes up, you should see in the left panel three tabs: Contents, Search, and Glossary. Click on Contents to see what you have now in the Help Center. Then in the Control Center menu, click on Settings - Build Search Index... To add resources to the help files. |
Viewing Texinfo manuals within the help system; help for digikam
The Build Search Index window shows just one line, Application Manuals, with an empty check box. The box is empty because I already built that index. Nevertheless a Help search for grub only brings up the Unix man page with a note that for complete information you need to do info help. I'm wondering if there is a way to view the Texinfo manuals such as the one for grub within the help system. If there isn't, there should be, since a lot of critical Linux documentation is in that form.
And as an example, I tried to view the help for the KDE program digikam. If I go into the help and look at the Unix manual (easily found), I get only a man page that says how to call it and notes that for complete documentation I need to issue the command khelpcenter help:digikam, which indeed brings up the full help though with this warning: Quote:
The application manual displayed by the helpcenter itself is listed as index.html. If I click on it I get Quote:
