Inconsistent crashing of tv programs
I had problems with xawtv crashing (and freezing the whole system) as soon as I moved the window in anyway at all under gnome. I gave up trying to fix this and recently installed fluxbox. Under fluxbox xawtv seams pretty stable it has only crashed once.
I recently installed xawdecode this crashes (and locks up my system) after a few seconds (even under fluxbox) although I can load it and then close it straight away. ********Startup messages from xawdecode****** [adam@localhost home]$ xawdecode xawdecode: Symbol `mpeg1video_encoder' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking xawdecode: Symbol `mpeg4_encoder' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking This is xawdecode 1.6.7 running on Linux/i686 (2.4.20-9). libxawdecode.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory wmhooks: netwm detected wmhooks: gnome detected wmhooks: gnome stay on top without _WIN_LAYER DGA: server=2.0, include=2.0 VidMode: server=2.2, include=2.2 available video mode(s): 800x600 640x480 800x600 400x300 Selected XvImage adaptor with YUY2 support: ATI Radeon Video Overlay on port 69 (grabdisplay) x11: 800x600, 32 bit/pixel, 3328 byte/scanline v4l: 800x600, 32 bit/pixel, 3328 byte/scanline v4l: mmap()'ed buffer size = 0x820000 Checking device palette capabilities: grey hi240 rgb16(565) rgb24 rgb32 rgb15(555) yuv422 yuyv raw yuv422p yuv411p yuv420p yuv410p ****************igain volume = 0x4343 MMX, SSE, AMD MMX extensions, SSE2, have been detected. ********End of start up messages from xawdecode************** ***********************/etc/modules.conf******************** [adam@localhost home]$ cat /etc/modules.conf #bbtv options bttv radio=5 card=78 #pll=1triton1=1 alias usb-controller usb-ohci alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd alias char-major-81 bttv #sound alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null 2>&1 || : pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null 2>&1 || : alias /dev/ttySHSF* hsfserial alias char-major-240 hsfserial alias /dev/ttyCUA* hsfserial alias char-major-241 hsfserial alias /dev/modem hsfserial options hsfserial serialmajor=240 calloutmajor=241 alias /dev/ttySHSF* hsfserial alias /dev/ttyCUA* hsfserial *********End of modules.conf*********************** Any other info you require just tell me what you need to know... Not that anyone helped me here but :(
I figured out what my problem was... I had selected the wrong tuner in /etc/modules.conf
For all those people out there who are having problems with xawtv crashing their linux check your tuner... I wish someone had told me before but it took me a month to figure this out! Maby I am just slow. Adam |
