Incoming mail is rejected...

Hi,

I'm trying to set up an email server with Fedora Core 2.
I'm using sendmail 8.12.11 and Dovecot secure imap server.

When I try to send email (from an external host) to this mail server, it will reply with 'connection refused' in it.
Sending mail from this server works without any problems.

I have configured the access, local-host-names, virtusertable and the sendmail.cf/mc files in the /etc/mail/ folder.

I'm using an external DNS server, configured the hosts file and disabled the firewall.

I don't know how to make this work...

Please help!

Does your ISP allow incomming connections on port 25?

Also check that you are listening on all interfaces:
netstat -nlp
iptables -nL

Thanks for your quick reply

I found out that my ISP doesn't allow direct incoming connections on port 25.
However, it should be posible to use their relay host, so I configured it (or tried it )

Now I get an error 'Relaying denied'.

I hope someone can help me

Unless they are relaying for you then you will not be able to ue a relay for incomming mail.

I just had to make sure the primary MX record could be resolved by my ISP...

Thanks for your help!
