In compiz, mouse clicks work in an app only while holding down the CTRL or ALT key

I have some strange mouse behavior going on with compiz enabled... I can navigate the application menu and click on apps to open them. But it doesn't work when I press the mouse key inside the app unless I first hold down the CTRL or ALT keys.
When I left click inside an app without holding down the ALT or CTRL key, the mouse pointer changes to a hand and I can drag the app around the screen.
The mouse wheel works fine...
When I disable compiz, everything works fine... I didn't make any changes to compiz in weeks and then it was only to change the skydome background.

I don't see any settings in mouse properties or in compiz related to the behavior.

Anyone run into this and know how to fix it. It's driving me bonkers.
It's an IBM USB Mouse.
Gnome 2.30
Compiz 0.8.6-1
Kernel 2.6.33.6-147.2.4.fc13.i686

I recall that this has to do with "sticky keys" (perhaps by another name) being erroneously enabled. I'm not sitting at a Linux installation right now, so I can't be more specific. (Sorry.)

I was able to get the mouse working again. Resetting compiz settings to default fixed it.
I launched ccsm and from there clicked Preferences --> Reset to defaults.
