Import Windows Address book in Kmail?

I have Mandriva Free 2006, with kmail 1.1.2. How can I import my Windows address book into it? I tried looking in all the menu options, but I can't find squat...

I'm running an old version of Kmail, and I'm doing this off the top of my head since I don't use kmail anymore...

You need to first export your windows address book into a text file where the fields are seperated by commas (a csv file).

Then you can open up Kmail and go to Tools > Address Book. In the Address Book window, click on File > Import > Import List and open up your saved windows file.

Nope... there is no TOOLS -> address book. There's a tools menu, but no address book option.

not sure then. do you know how to get to your kde address book? Again, probably not much help, but the Address book for me is at:

K Menu button > Utilities > Address Manager

So open up the Address Manager on its own and import your address list. Then open up kmail and see if you can access one of your addresses...

edit: there is a button for me on the toolbar that looks like a book which opens up the Address Manager...

tell you what...

What email client do you use? Know of any others?

Right now, I'm using the m2 client that comes with opera. No problems using it whatsoever. Unfortunately, it displays html email, no option to read email as plain text, but it does compose in plain text (no html email compose, though).

Actually, I just reread your post... you're using kmail 1.1.2? That's a really old version... I'm on a redhat 7.3 box and I've got kmail 1.5.1...

I find that odd that you're running a much newer distro than me and using an old version of kmail... I wonder if this implies you're using an old version of kde...

edit: Actually this post doesn't help you with importing your windows address book problem...

don't know what program your windows address book uses (oe or outlook), but according to the opera kb, you should be able to import OE addresses.

edit: Looks like this is done for the windows version only, but you can do this in opera for windows and then export your opera contacts, boot into linux, and import back into opera for linux.

edit2: http://www.hallvord.com/opera/conversion1.htm will convert your contact file into an opera format contact file which you can do all in linux.
