Question IMP, IMAP, POP3, what do I need... ?

Got sort of an easy question to those who know or have done this, or even know a person who has done this... but since I havn't yet, I don't rightly offhand know the answers.

Now that I have confused you, let me confuse you some more with my actual question...

I have a server all setup with apache/php/mysql/sendmail outbound. I want to put in a web only mail type thinkamajig, and am curious what extra components I may need. I have looked at IMP and it looks great far as webmail goes, but I doubt it works with virtual domains and virtual users of those domains (cant install it to find out, cause I dont know have all the needed software to install it).

Since sendmail handles the outgoing of mails ... do all I need to install for a webmail type package is a single IMAP or POP3 software? Just baffled... I am sure this all isnt difficult, but you all know how manuals and docs/howtos make things more difficult than they are

Basically I just need something that collects mail to a domain/domains, then a web interface to get/send that mail.

Sendmail bot sends and receives mail. You need only the web interface (many to choose from).

Yes... but sendmails abilities lack so greatly its sad.

I will go with CourierMTA, as it is all one package, and its really easy to setup hundreds of virtual domains and virtual users all of which are not filling up the UNIX passwd files. I will use sendmail as the 'outbound' ... as that is about all I find it useful for.
