IMAP, POP3 and webmail? The best solution?
Hi All,
I am a little confused.
I have postfix and ipop3 running on my server. I want to set up a webmail package so I can read and send mail through my server from anywhere.
I looked into squirrlemail but it appears it can only be used with IMAP. I then explored the possibility of changing my server to use IMAP instead of POP3. It did not look good as one of my favourite windows programs 'Mailwasher' only uses pop3 to filter emails.
Webmail for POP3 does not seem like a good idea as passwords are transferred unencrypted, but IMAP does not seem to be as widely supported (at first glance).
What would be the best compromise??
Thanks
Lucas
