Image viewer and multimedia player that can be controlled with keyboard

Currently I'm running Windows and using IrfanView as image viewer and GOM player for video. I use these programs because all the main features in them can be controlled with keyboard. In IrfanView I can view all the images in one folder by pressing the arrow keys and when I reach the end of that folder I get a dialog in which I can choose to start over in the same folder or go to some other folder. In GOM I can rewind or fast forward for 5 seconds, 1 minute or 5 minutes (default settings), adjust volume, change aspect ratio and more with keyboard shortcuts. Both programs can quickly be closed with Esc key.

I've tried many Linux distros on virtual machines and dual boot and I've tried many image viewers and players, but I was unable to find ones that can replace IrfanView and GOM. I try to use the mouse as little as I can because my carpal tunnel and my shoulder don't like it.

So, to sum up, I want an image viewer which can display all the images in one folder and jump between folders with keyboard commands and I want a video player that doesn't require a mouse for main operations.

Thanks in advance.

mirage isn't bad as an image viewer (and I'm a fellow irfanview fan!).

people don't realize it, but VLC has a ton of keyboard commands. I use a remote control imitating a keyboard on my TV at home and use VLC for the media playback (no mouse). https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:Hotkeys/
