Icons on desktop
Hi,
I have been scouring the net for a program to give me icons on my root desktop (at least, but preferably on virtual too). I know about rox desktop and nautilus and kdedesktop or whatever its called, but all of these take over my desktop. I just am looking for an app that will put some sort of icons in my desktop for a particular directory. eg ~/Desktop. It is driving me nuts. I was sure that in the flexibility of linux there must be something... but it appears not (sofar). Basically what I want. Icons on desktop of my filesystem for a given directory with transparant backgrounds so I can still see and use my current WM background/wallpaper.. Any suggestions?? Cheers |
fbdesk, xtdesk, idesk

idesk is great, easy to use. I use it for my icewm desktop

thats cool guys,
thanks but these apps only give set out icons sorta links to commands. I essentially want a list of a dir like a file manager on my desktop. ala kdesktop or nautilus would provide. only they are bulky and take over my WM. i can make icons like those from idesk and xtdesk etc in enlightenment already. |
There's DFM, but its development seems to have stalled.
ROX-Filer has desktop icons, but I'm not sure if they represent some sort of special link files or lines in a configuration file rather than actual files in an actual directory. I found all of this with a bit of googling, I have always just used KDE myself. Simon |
