Icons jump around when mounting / unmounting

I am running Mandrake 9.1. I get my icons positioned where I want them on the desktop. Some are links to CDRom and a removable hard drive. When I mount these devices, the icons jump to some other location on the screen. Is there anyway to keep them in the same position. It is really annoying.

Go to the desktop configuration and uncheck everything in the list that says show mounted cdrom, hd, floppy, etc and create the shorcuts yourself and they will work the way you want them

Actually, that is what I did already, and it worked great. Thanks for the response.
