ICEWM :Monitor Turns off.. Tried everything....

Hi All,

I have this wierd problem, my monitor turns off after 15 or so minutes..., and every time i have to cold boot it [Out of Range ]

The only thing i have in IceWm is Xlock command [is it doing the above ?????]

Saw some previous posts.. regarding these

#xset q

Screen Saver:
prefer blanking: yes allow exposures: yes
timeout: 0 cycle: 600

DPMS (Energy Star):
Standby: 1200 Suspend: 1800 Off: 2400
DPMS is Disabled

######################################

Edited my /etc/X11/XF86Config
################################
#Option "dpms"

Section "ServerFlags"

Option "BlankTime" "0"
Option "NoPM" "true"

EndSection

#####################################

And it happened again today.... i am so annoyed ... Can anyone tell me how I could turn off the powermanagement features , Kde Control center has powermanagement disabled...

Thanks in advance......

I disabled DPMS by deleting all the packages though it wasn't what was recommended but it still keeps on saving energy by turning of my monitor sometimes.

Have you checked your monitor's hardware settings as well?

Thanks!! Darkleaf,

Can you tell me what those packages are???, and also what you meant by "but it still keeps on saving energy by turning of my monitor sometimes." So it does the same after all that ????

My monitor NEC FE750 has this stupid Intelligent Power Manager Mode (IPM) which i turned off .. but the same keeps happening

The wierd thing is when I restart the system the Monitor's Led turns green showing that there is signal, but I can see any thing ....

I put the knoppix Cd and waited and it came back after a few minutes....

It still used some settings even if I deleted the packages and set the hardware energy settings off and disabling those of x as well. Maybe the BIOS has got something to do with it as well, I haven't checked that one yet.

It looks like there weren't any packages, minds are weird

This is my old thread about it but it didn't work in the end.

Did you do it with a kernel recompile or can you just use bash or something?

UsualTuxpect 10-31-2004 03:47 AM

I passed apm=off , acpi=off to the kernel and it's working without a hitch...
