Question icedove authentication issue

On a debian etch i have postfix tls sasl and dovecot pop ssl .I tested authentication successfully with many mail clients , also outlook , but it fails with both thunderbird and icedove . I use auth ssl on both pop and smtp , off course mail clients are configured properly and dovecot configuration is close to its sane defaults . Logs:

Code:
Jun 7 00:54:34 mail dovecot-auth: (pam_unix) authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=dovecot ruser= rhost=10.0.0.5 user=xxxx
Jun 7 00:55:34 mail last message repeated 4 times
It's not much that's all i can give you by now , what's the best deal to improve logging on dovecot-auth ??? !!!! Thanks !
