I want to make a standalone network media player from a 200MHz PII
I have an old PC with a 200MHz PII, a 650MB harddrive and a wireless network card but I don't have a spare monitor, keyboard, or mouse. I would like to put this together to make a network media player that would play whatever I stream to it and/or play streaming radio stations from the internet. I was thinking I could just install my favorite flavor of Linux and control what/how it plays using SSH, but I would like to know if anyone knows of a ready-made solution out there already or has any suggestions on a better way to do it.

Have a look at Geexbox. It is not exactly what you need but you might get ideas.
