I want an older gui but a new kernel

Ok when I install Mandrake Linux 9.2, it only installed from the first disk...keeep that in mind

Ok I want the gui of Mandrake Linux 7.2, and the kernel and dependencie files (ie:glibc_23)I did it with 9.0 and got wine 2004 installed on mandrake linux 9.0...but its still too slow I want the gui of Mandrake Linux 7.2! Anyways yeah thanks to whoever helps me out...hey! and maybe i could upgrade to kernel 2.6! what files are needed to upgrade the kernel? like the glibc stuff?

Then simply install Mandrake 7.2 and then update the kernel and module-init-tools. You will also have to apply a whole bunch of security fixes (don't ignore them or you're toast).

If you really want a customized setup you should look into Gentoo or some of the lighter distributions. It is always easier to start out with a small install and choose what you want added than removing and downgrading from a big and new distribution release.

why dont you just use a proxy and rate yourself a couple times? lol, anyways last time I just used source manager and pointed it toward my 9.2 RPMS and then ran rpmdrake selected the kernel and it did everything from there...
