I think i am going to cry

not sure this is in the right forum.

Hello everybody.

I have 2 HDDs installed, were i have an install of redhat 8 on one and all my work on another. My computer crashed (locked solid) so i rebooted. Now it wont mount the drive with all of my work on it that i desperatly need.

It says.

invalid journal inode

then goes on about a bad superblock i think.

I am very new to linux, so please be gentle, i really need this stuff, has it gone forever ??
Please help if you can..
Thx in advance

well, habitualy, bad supreblock error isa very very bad error. I suggest you to boot with a floppy (or with your RedHat cd but I'm not sure it will be as good) and to run fsck with the "b" option, to use a n alternate superblock (in case your first one is corrupt).
so it should be something like "fsck -b 32768 /dev/hda".

but this is mostly a "last chance" operation.
