Yes, where to put /home.

Basically, the path differences between unix and cygwin are the most frustrating things about using cygwin.

The most common installation configuration is to have c:\cygwin\home
be the location for home directories.

I have also seen some cygwins installed where the home directory coincides with the windows user documnets/settings directory. I think this varies depending on the version of windows you are using (2000 vs xp?).

you can set the HOME environment variable (control panel - system - advanced) be any directory you want, and you can edit the properties of the cygwin shortcut to start with %HOME% as the working directory.

I have Xp on my laptop, I went there to (control panel - system - advanced) then on what should i do, I don't want to risk anything that will mess up

I only want to make a home dir in my / root dir, and when i do this command
cd ~ it will go to home dir
