I Need an IE solution or alternative for school

I am a student with ITT Technical Institute Online. The school in it's infinite wisdom has designed the online system to only work properly with Internet Explorer. I want to use Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my new netbook but need to be able to do homework on it.

I have tried Running Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera normally and as IE on my desktop running Win 7 and the school presentations wont work properly in any of the browsers. I have tried using Wine in Ubuntu to install IE and ive tried IE4Linux and they dont work.

I need a solution I miss Ubuntu and would really like to use it as my primary OS but without the ability to do school work that isnt possible.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

Install packages such as wine tricks that automate installation for you, it will install each IE dependencies and IE itself, it should work. Also send a complain to your sysadmin about this.

Contact whoever built the sites and ask them to fix them so the sites work with Firefox and Chrome.

You would think a Tech school wouldn't be using IE to begin with.

Have a look at this site:
ie4linux
This does an automatic wine with IE install. I have a similar problem at work.

The other 2 alternatives is:
  1. VirtualBox with nlited Win XP & IE (This works very well for me on eee pc 900 with 2Gb & Debian Lenny
  2. rdesktop - ask the tech support to make a windows server available or set one up then use rdesktop to connect

Regards,
Stefan

I think there is a way to tell ITT that your firefox is really IE and it sometimes works. (that means once in a while)

Vigol, <www.distance-education.itt-tech.edu> The site loads fine and I can login to my account the problem is with the presentations for lessons, the 'NEXT' button depending on the browser Im trying it with either wont show up or wont work no matter how many times I click it.

I may give IE4Linux another try but I had nothing but problems getting it to install with Wine. I tried manually installing direct through Wine and I tried installing IE4Linux and letting it install for me and accessing the school presentations was hit or miss.

Just to re-clarify. I want to run linux on my new netbook with the following specs.

Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz Processor

240GB Hard Drive

1GB RAM
