I made a ddclient mess =(

Ok, so I've made a big mess of ddclient. I've been trying to get it to work for weeks, and I finally did today, and wouldnt you know it I accidentally deleted it. Now I am trying to install it again and use the same working config, but I get a slew of errors.

First box (I'm trything to get this to work on two servers) will give me this error:

Code:
 Starting ddclient: WARNING: file /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf: Cannot open file '/etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf'. (No such file or directory)
stat() on closed filehandle FD at /usr/sbin/ddclient line 715.
Use of uninitialized value in bitwise and (&) at /usr/sbin/ddclient line 716.
readline() on closed filehandle FD at /usr/sbin/ddclient line 727.
I realize its looking for ddlient.conf in the wrong directory, but I have no idea why and where it is getting the /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf from. It never did that before. If I make /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf and try and start, stop, or restart it I get this

Starting ddclient:
or
Shutting down ddclient: kill: usage: kill [-s sigspec | -n signum | -sigspec] [pid | job]... or kill -l [sigspec]

and it wont work from there. I've tried completely removing every trace of ddclient and starting from scratch, but it leads to this.

Second box I get a WARNING: caught SIGTERM; exiting. If I check the status of dcclient, this is what it says:
ddclient dead but pid file exists

Sorry for the long post. Hope someone out there can put me out of my missery.
Thanks.

hmm

I don't know why it would be looking in a strange place, but here's mine:
daemon=3600 # check every 300 seconds
syslog=yes # log update msgs to syslog
mail=root # mail update msgs to root
pid=/var/run/ddclient.pid # record PID in file.
use=web # via web
protocol=dyndns2 # default protocol
server=members.dyndns.org # default server
login=myusername # default login
password=mypassword # default password
wildcard=yes # add wildcard CNAME?
static=yes \
server=members.dyndns.org, \
protocol=dyndns2 \

<that was all the stuff that was uncommented. hope it helps>
