I have an old 300mhz pentium ll 256ram ... need help
I dont actually ever use the cdrom or anything usb related...
just the sound card mouse keyboard and ethernet...
Im trying to strip slackware down to the bare bones...I mean bare bones... right now Im running fluxbox and logging in in text mode...and everything runs pretty smooth for this old dinosaur....but I want more...(this is my experiment..and Im not worried about messing the system up..Just need advice)
I was thinking of disabling udev, hal, syslog, klog, and dbus....and unloading a crap load of modules...just leaving tulip , iptables, and the necessary junk for the processor and bridge...(will this give me a noticable increase in speed? or just a waste of time?)
Or if anyone has better opinions let me know please...
btw Ive tried damnsmall linux and it runs about the same speed as what Ive got my slackware running at right now.
has anyone done this
